Promoting a brief with social posts

How to turn an approved story, a webinar or an event into LinkedIn posts in Social.

Promoting a brief with social posts

You do not need a separate Social brief to promote your other campaigns. Stories, webinars and events can each hand their material straight to Social, where the posts are drafted, edited and approved in the usual way.

From an approved story

Once a story is approved, select Create social posts on the story (or Social next to its LinkedIn post in the asset set). Social opens with the approved story as the source, so the posts are written from facts already checked and signed off.

From a webinar

On the webinar's workspace, the Social posts section has two phases:

  • Pre-webinar promotion, to drive registrations
  • Post-webinar follow-up, to keep the conversation going

Select Raise posts for a phase. The webinar setup must be saved first, because the posts are written from its date, offer, agenda and speakers. Each phase can be raised once for the current setup. The drafts are listed as raised under the Webinar brief; select Open in Social to edit and approve them.

From an event

On the event's page, select Promote. Social opens with the event as its source to create LinkedIn posts. The event's setup needs to be complete first.

What happens in Social

The rest works exactly like any social post:

  1. Review the drafts in their LinkedIn voices.
  2. Edit, regenerate or compare versions as needed.
  3. Approve each post, attaching the partner's tracked link where one is available.
  4. Copy the approved handoff and publish it in LinkedIn or your scheduling tool.
HockeyStick never posts for you. Approval records your sign-off; you choose when and where each post goes out.

Why promote this way

Posts raised from a story, webinar or event start from material that already exists and has been checked, so you are not briefing the same campaign twice. Webinar posts are listed under their Webinar brief, so the campaign's material stays together.
