Connect your Slack workspace

For your HockeyStick administrator. Add the app to Slack, then confirm the workspace in Activate settings.

Connect your Slack workspace

This page is for your organisation's HockeyStick administrator. Connecting a workspace tells HockeyStick which Slack workspace belongs to your organisation, so your licensed people can use the agent there.

Step 1: add the app to Slack

Anyone with permission to install apps in your Slack workspace can add HockeyStick. When Slack asks, choose the workspace your team uses (not the whole organisation) and review the app's permissions. After installing, the page confirms the app is installed and points you to HockeyStick settings to finish.

Installing the app grants no access to your HockeyStick data. Nothing happens until the next step.

Step 2: confirm the workspace in HockeyStick

  1. Sign in to HockeyStick and open Activate → Settings → Slack & agent access.
  2. Under Connect your Slack workspace, select Connect Slack workspace. You continue to Slack and come back to HockeyStick.
  3. HockeyStick shows the workspace Slack verified, with your organisation's name. Check it is your organisation's workspace.
  4. Select Review workspace connection, then Confirm workspace connection.

You will see "Slack workspace connected. Each person can now connect their own account."

Finish within ten minutes of starting. If the review expires, select Start a new connection and go through it again.

If your company has a Slack organisation with several workspaces

Some larger companies run one Slack organisation with many workspaces. If HockeyStick is installed for the whole organisation, HockeyStick asks you to pick the one workspace your team will use, then select Continue to review. Other workspaces are not affected. If the list is empty, ask your Slack organisation administrator to add the app to your workspace, then select Reload Slack workspaces.

If the workspace is connected to someone else

A Slack workspace can be connected to only one HockeyStick organisation. If it is already connected elsewhere, the connection is refused until that organisation disconnects it.

What connecting changes

Connecting (or reconnecting) a workspace resets everyone's personal link in that workspace. People simply link their account again the next time they message the agent.
