HockeyStick in Slack
Credit and spending limits
How agent credit works, how your administrator shares it, and what happens when someone has none.
Credit and spending limits
The agent uses AI to understand and answer requests, and that uses agent credit. HockeyStick gives your organisation credit for a set period. Your administrator then shares it with the people who use the agent.
Give people credit
In Activate → Settings → Slack & agent access, open Give people credit.
- Choose the funded period.
- Choose the person and the amount. The page shows how much is available to give.
- Select Give credit and confirm.
To move credit back, use Take back unused credit. Credit that has already been spent, or is in use by a request right now, stays protected.
Credit expires at the end of its period. It never tops up automatically.
Spending limits (optional)
Under Spending limits, you can cap what your whole organisation or each person can spend:
- Organisation limit caps total spending.
- Default person limit applies to everyone without their own limit. Leave it blank to use each person's own credit.
- Person limit overrides the default for one person.
A limit of 0 stops new spending. Changing a limit never adds credit or erases charges.
While a request runs
Each request briefly sets aside some credit while it works, then releases whatever it did not use. You may see this as "In use right now". It is also why a very small balance can be too little to start a request.
What "no credit" means
If someone has no usable credit, the agent replies: "Your organisation has no agent credit available right now. Ask your HockeyStick administrator to give you credit."
This usually means one of these:
- No credit has been given to that person yet.
- Their credit is used up, or their spending limit (or the organisation's) has been reached or set to 0.
- The credit period has ended.
Typing Help still works without credit.
Usage reports
If HockeyStick bills your organisation directly, a usage reports area may also appear here, where you can download a record of your organisation's agent usage. The report is a record, not an invoice or a receipt.
